Framing an Awareness of Airtightness
Series 3: Framing For Airtightness

A fundamental component of high energy efficient residential construction is exceptional airtightness. Exceptional airtightness begins with the builder understanding the components of the build and establishing a plan with the trades. But what is the role of the framing crew? What requirements should be considered during the framing stage to set the stage for exceptional airtightness?

The execution of a plan for exceptional airtightness begins at the forming and framing stage. This course will investigate the various air barrier system components and strategies necessary at common interfaces, details and considerations and how they can simply be implemented. This will be an interactive course with open discussion about various challenges and current practices integrated with “hands-on” mock-up exercises.
