This twenty CPD course is comprised of ten - two hour modules.
On August 17th, 2023, the House of Tomorrow Net Zero Demonstration Home on the Ashnola River was completely consumed by the Crater Lake forest fire. The next morning, our family and our team committed to rebuilding, and named the project “The Phoenix”. This series follows the process from the design to the final reveal, including lessons learned from building the original home, through to the construction and the final tally of ‘How Long & How Much’.
This series documents the first of two complete builds. Next year, a second complete build will take place on the same site. It became evident during the early design that we wanted to explore the range of design options from simple to complex while still achieving the new requirements for true Net Zero, soil gas provisions, comfort, safety, urban/wildland interface, buildabilty and relative affordability. This first of two projects will include an honest score card of achievements and lessons learned and a full reveal of the finished home in the final session.
The Phoenix: Designing and Rebuilding our House of Tomorrow will also be presented on our 7 night Bahama cruise and our 14 day Ireland, Scottish Highlands & Wales Cruise!

A Note from Murray- September 12th 2024
It has been one of our busiest years ever. We have issued more CPD learning credits this past year then ever before and it continues to grow every month..We have all of you to thank for this and it drives our whole team to put even more research and effort into our upcoming education deliverables. Thank you for your continued support!
I just wanted to mention three quick things that are in the final stages of completion:
1. We are moving. After 9 years and many great memories, we are packing everything up and moving about 4 minutes around the corner. The deal is done and now we have until Spring to transition from one location to the next. This time we are taking the time to make much more efficient use of the space and to house a state-of-the-art broadcast and recording complex within our facility. No more multi-purpose rooms that seem to be in a constant state of set-up and break-down. Lots more research and curriculum development space and a few more seats for a few more talented team members,
2. The Phoenix Project is days from completion. Finish paint gets first coat application on the weekend. This will definitely beat our 99 days to build that we set as a goal. Final budgets are also coming together at, or even slightly less than anticipated. Don’t worry - the new series (to be released in its entirety before October 31) will have no filters and has no shortage of moments to remember. I can't wait to get this one unleashed, and
3. The plan for the 2025 major learning series is coming together. I won't spoil it, but I can say that it will be another “Murray & Karen putting their money on the line” project, and it will surprise you!
All the best to all of our industry friends and clients.
