ALL NEW HOMES MUST ENSURE PROPER HEATING & COOLING
All new homes in British Columbia must ensure that the capacity of all heating and cooling devices shall be determined by the CSA F280 Standard. The recent requirement that requires cooling in at least 1 living space as protection from overheating in dwelling units was published by the Province of BC Bulletin B24-08, which states, “Part 9 designers are to use CSA F280 … in determining the minimum capacity required to meet the cooling requirement.
HOW DO BUILDERS & DESIGNERS ACHIEVE THIS?
Simply stated, Builders in BC must ensure that the design of the heating and cooling equipment conforms with the CSA F280 Standard ( BC Bulletin ).
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR PERMIT AUTHORITY?
Many Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) throughout BC are clarifying the permit requirements for heating and cooling design. With the addition of mandatory cooling as of Spring, 2024, the requirement for submitting a conforming CSA F280 report is being clarified by many of the AHJ's as seen in this example from the Langley Township ( Langley Permit Requirement ).
